George Raspiller learned from and worked under Émile Gallé in Nancy, France. He produced many of Gallé's pieces, signing his own name on a small number of items between 1910 and 1920. The dish features a cornflower motif to playfully match the cornflower blue of the top layer of glass. In addition to the slight raised texture of the etching, the lid features a texture detail in the white background. The dish is 6 inches wide at the widest part and 6.5 inches tall. There have been no restorations or cracks, however there are three small chips on the rim of the dish (the lid is without chipping) typical for a functional piece of such age. Additionally, it's unusual to find a candy dish of this era - most cameo acid etching was done on vases and perfume bottles.
