George Rodrigue (American/Louisiana, b. 1944), "Night Light Flight: Blue Dog Series", acrylic on linen, signed lower right, signed, titled and dated "2007" en verso, 30 in. x 24 in., attractively framed.Provenance: Purchased at Rodrigue Gallery, New Orleans, 2007.Note: The painting, "Night Light Flight: Blue Dog Series" is part of Rodrigue's iconic "Blue Dog Series", which has been utilized in the national advertising campaigns of Absolut Vodka, Neiman Marcus, and Xerox. This particular painting incorporates three of Rodrigue's popular subjects: his early landscape and oak trees, the iconic Blue Dog, and intense Hurricanes. Additionally, the butterfly wings behind the dog are a theme that has repeatedly appeared as the cover of the Neiman Marcus catalog or, as it is referred to, The Book.Reference: Ginger Danto and George Rodrigue, The Art of George Rodrigue, (New York, 2003).
