A Wonderful Heirloom and Decorator Piece Will you be the next to own this fine antique that's over 230 years old? This beautiful rare Georgian box dates from 1780 or earlier. It is veneered in the finest coromandel to the top, front ,sides and back and it has a sloping or canted edge to the lid with a fine holly lip. On the sides are the original lions head handles with a smaller version on the front drawer. There is a rod on the inner edge of the box, next to the lock, which must be lifted to allow the drawer to open. There is a thin crease of separation in the veener where the top pieces were originally joined across the width of topmost portion of the lid ( see photos ). It is lined with a designer plain pale blue paper. It measures approximately 11" x 9" x 7" tall, and includes a working lock and key. This lovely box has been French polished, and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity. Buy with confidence. I guarantee this beautiful piece to be as described or pictured.
