RARE GEORGIAN OPEN PIERCE WORK SOLID SILVER BOTTLE COASTER Charles Hougham London 1788 This is a very Rare Georgian Open Pierce work solid silver bottle coaster crafted by the illustrious Georgian silversmith Charles Hougham , this stunning Georgian Bottle Coaster has the most stunning open pierce work decoration to the body as you can see with engraved leaf's seperating each section of open pierced work, this then has beautiful dotted swags drapping down from above, it has a band of smooth silver that makes this coaster very elegant, to the top edging it has an engraved zig zag pattern finished with delicate bead work, the bottom edge of this stunning coaster has a stepped band, all this sits upon the most elegant legs that have a smooth finish and a lovely banded frame, you will also see an oval blank cartouche to the front,the centre of this Georgian bottle coasted has a wood turned base and it still retains its green felt to the base, the qaulity is superb as you would come to expect being crafted by Charles Hougham, this is 225 years old and so very pretty , this would have been used at many Georgian dinner parties, if only this could talk i bet it could tell some fascinating stories, this is fully hallmarked Maker......... a little rubbed but just about readable .......Charles Hougham Assay Office.......London Date..... read more
