FINE GEORGIAN GOLD PIQUE WORK TOOTH PICK BOX ~ LOVERS EYE MINIATURE TO THE LID Description Part of a small group of Georgian mourning and miniature items I will be listing over the next few days. Fine small Georgian period rose gold inlaid pique work tooth pick box with a tiny 'Lovers Eye' miniature inset to the lid. Box measures 2 & 1/4" long. The eye miniature area measures just under 3/8ths" across. The box is very slightly curved, not sure if this is due to warping or whether it was made this way. There is a small chip to the front right edge near to the inlay which has lifted very slightly. The eye miniature is finely painted and I presume its on natural material. There is dust under the glass and to the gold edge on top but the eye is still very visible and in good condition. Inside is the velvet lining to the base and the mirror is intact although the silvering has gone in areas commensurate with age. There is a shallow chip to the top edge just above where the miniature is and with a magnifier you can see a little behind it and it looks absolutely genuine and not tampered with at all. The push button works fine and the lid fits the base well despite the slight curve. Please enlarge the images to see the details before you bid and ask questions if you need to. !!
