Georgian hallmarked silver Mustard Pot - 1821 This beautiful lidded mustard pot has a bulbous body, shell pattern thumb piece to the lid, gilt interior, cobalt blue glass liner and spoon. The pot is clearly hallmarked for London 1821 and, I believe, the maker’s mark is that of Edward Edwards – the date mark on the body is part rubbed but is very clear on the lid. The spoon is dated 1797 and has the monogram ‘J.C’ engraved on the terminal but the maker’s mark is rubbed. To the front of the main body, there is a crest in the form of a dragon but this is rubbed. This piece is in excellent condition with no dents or dints that I can find. The gold wash to the inside is in very good condition but is warn to the edges of the lid where it sits on the main body. The glass liner has no chips or cracks and the spoon has no dents, dints or wear. The mustard pot measures approximately 8 cm (3 1/4") from tip of handle to front, 5.8 cm (2 1⁄4 “) tall and has a top diameter and 5 cm (2”). The spoon is 10 cm (4”) long. The combined weight of silver of the pot and spoon is 110 grams and the total weight (including glass) is 170 grams.
