This is what we believe to be an English, plain stem ale glass dating from the late 18th century, c1780. The glass is in excellent condition for its age. This means, of course, that it shows the age related wear and tear to both the rim of the bowl and particularly to the rim of the foot commensurate with over 200 years of use. It has a rough pontil mark on the foot which is nicely striated as is the bowl. The glass has an elongated funnel bowl measuring 5.3 cm (2.1 inches) in diameter at the rim. The bowl sits on a short plain stem which leads to a conical foot which measures 6.1 cm (2.4 inches) in diameter. The glass itself is 12.8 cm (5.1 inches) in height. There are no significant chips, cracks, scratches or any obvious evidence of restoration. It is made from English lead metal. Quote stock number: 1973
