Georgian Silver Snuff Box - London 1798 A nice silver snuff box. It is oval in shape, measuring 3 1/4 inches. The exterior is relatively plain, with nicely executed engraving around the edges on the top and bottom, as well as the hinge. The exterior top has an engraved cartouche with script initials "CH". The hinge is in good condition and opens and shuts firmly. The interior displays a good gilt finish. The box is fully hallmarked for London 1798, with the marks on the interior top and bottom. The makers mark is clearly struck as "TP/ER" - the famous box makers Thomas Phipps and Edward Robinson (Grimwade #2891). The patina is especially good. Overall, the box is in good condition. Thanks for looking - this item would make a great addition to any collection of silver boxes. Please note that I cannot accept any form of electronic payment. |
