My second photo shows a netting stirrup in use, and is from Nerylla Tsunton's ANTIQUE NEEDLEWORK TOOLS AND EMBROIDERIES. 4" wide at the base and 2 1/2" tall with attached split ring for attaching the anchor ribbon. Very rare and in excellent condition.Netting is one of the earliest crafts. The technique for making fishing nets is the same as that used for making fine and elegant mesh for gowns and hats. The difference is the size of the cord and the needles. Two types of tools are needed for the production of net: needles and meshes. The needles are open at each end to allow for the winding of thread, and the meshes are like little rulers, used to hold the loops open and control their size. The containers for these tools were quite often beautiful works of ivory, bone, straw, tortoise, or other materials. EM> .PaymentI accept Paypal payments for your convenience.
