Armshield of the BAYERNWACHT, 1924-1933 silvered aluminum The Bayernwacht was the paramilitary wing of the Bayerischen Volkspartei (BVP) during the Weimar Republic. It was founded in 1924 by the BVP district party leader, Fritz Schäffer and made up of former members of the Bavarian Freikorps and Einwohnerwehr München. By 1932, the Bayernwacht, together with the Pfalzwacht numbered about 30,000 members. On April 13, 1933 the Bayernwacht and Pfalzwacht were dissolved by order of Hitler.
