Up for auctions is a rare ASW 43/ 44 with matching numbers. T are less than 40,000 of these specimens in existence. No 1944 bayonet collection is truely complete without one of these examples. Now to the description of the bayonet itself. The blade itself is in great shape. It is dated 43, Maker marked ASW, serial number is 9871 U. It is UNSHARPENED, with a great flat edge. I would say 98% of bluing is intact. The pommel has one waff. A lot of bluing left on it. The grips are red bakelite. The grip screws are t One of the grip screw nuts is in the white for some reason. T is a some rust and pitting on the bottom of the handle. The crossguard has some pitting on it. Most of the bluing is intact on the crossguard. The locking lug bolt is functioning flawlessly. I can see no number on it. The mortise is super clean and has alot of bluing on it. The pommel is very nice. The scabbard is matching numbered to the bayonet, 9871 U, and dated 44. The scabbard has rust and pitting. See pics. The scabbard is missing the retaining screw. This is a rare bayonet, seldom offered. Will sell overseas the bidder must be aware of thier own laws.
