No reserve on this great German Camo paratrooper helmet. Up for auction a model 38 Camouflage German Fallschirmjager helmet. Complete with marked shell, complete liner and chin straps. The helmet has a great 2 color textured camouflage design with great wear to the finish. The finish has areas w the field green base color shows through the camouflage finish, dings and scratches and small dark rust spots are found throughout the finish. Also has great wear to the rim . Just a nice dirty battle worn look to the helmet.See photo 1,2 for camo design and shape of finish. Photo 7 shows a good close up of the texture of the finish. The shell is marked ET 71 in the rear of the helmet. The stamping is light but can be seen, see photo 4 for a close up of this marking. The interior of the shell has the field green base color. The liner band is made of heavy alum. and is about 4 times the thickness of the cheep paper thin bands as found in the repo helmets being offered on ebay. The liner has the right type of pad system with the large head pad in the top of the helmet. The leather is well worn and shows heavy use, it has the size stamp and a RB Nr. stamp.. The liner can be seen in photo 3.. The liner also has a hand written name U. Schmidt 1/111 this name can be seen in photo 5.. The leather is still pliable and has good stiching. The chin straps have most of the bluish green color to them but have wear to the edges and ends, the buckle is still attached and the stiching is good on both straps the straps can be seen in photo 6.. The large grommets on the end of each strap are made of zinc or some sort of steel they have a nice greyish black patina to them. Everything looks great on this helmet the Camo, Liner and straps look 60 plus years old. This helmet is being sold as a museum quality copy of the rare WW2 German Fallschirmjager helmet. It looks old , has all the right wartime stampings and marks, has the correct liner system, but was pieced together and given a quality camo job long after world war 2. Even the straps are very well made with the right type of leather, steel buckle, snaps and grommets. The helmet weight is the same as original WW2 para helmets, not the light 18 ga. steel used in most repos. This is a high end copy and is being sold without reserve so is your chance to own a very realistic Fallschirmjager helmet without having to pay 3 or 4 grand for the real thing.
