Up for auction I have a RARE & UNIQUE German Pewter Whiskey Whistle. This is a LOVELY item and would be a very unique addition to the pewter lovers collection. This piece is in gently used condition. There scratches, corrosion or discolorations on this beautiful item. This is a lovely piece and is sure to bring much joy to its new owner. **This piece stands perfectly straight contrary to my poor photographs. DESCRIPTION: The winner of this auction will receive the fabulous item shown in the photos. There are very ornate scenes on this item commemorating Postal Workers. This pipe/whiskey whistle has a lovely aged patina on the outside scenes. The inside has a sparkling shiney finish. This item is designed to look like a Whiskey Whistle. Though it is "NOT" a whistle It is a 100% functional shot glass. It is a whimsical style shot glass designed like a smoking pipe. There is a decorative plastic mouthpiece attached to a heavy pewter base. The first scene shows a letter carrier delivering the mail to a lady popping her head out a shuttered window. Above the scene it says Der Biefbote. Beneath the scene it says Anno 1820. The second scene features a weathered elderly letter carrier with packages on his back. He is using a cane or walking stick. Above the scene it says Die Paketpost. Beneath the scene it says Anno 1800. The third scene features a letter carrier on horseback blowing a bugle. In the center there is a plack that says Alte Post. Beneath that there is an image of an ornate bugle horn. Above the scene it says Der Postillion. Beneath the scene it says Anno 1850.The fourth scene shows the mail carrier riding on a horse drawn carriage. Above the scene it says Die Postkutsche. Beneath the scene it says Anno 1865.All of these scenes have absolutely gorgeous detail!The pewter base of the mouthpiece and stem are ornately detailed as well. The base has a beautiful image of a mail carrier on horseback blowing a bugle. There is also the lettering Alte Post. It is gorgeous. The mouthpiece is plastic. It has a green tassle attached. The tassle has a shiney silky appearance. It may be real silk. At the end, there is a beaded tassle which looks like possibly horsehairA beautiful feature! The item features a footed style base. Going around the base it is detailed with a heavy ribbed motif. The base is very slightly out of round. It does not effect the standing stability of the item and cannot be viewed when standing on display. Please see photos. This whisley whistle will be a very appreciated treasure for its new owner. The pictures don't do it justice.
