STARTING AT A LOW BID, AS ALWAYS, WITH NO RESERVE: For your consideration, we are offering this antique German porcelain tea trivet. This wonderful decorative trivet dates back to early 1900's and features a colorful river scene titled: "Up The Shenandoah From Castleman's Ferry, Va." Trivet has a rich cobalt blue rim flowing into a gold floral pattern encircling the river scene. Reverse of trivet is cobalt blue showing a backmark in circle "Made In Germany for Coyner & Coiner Berryville Va." Coyner & Coiner was a general goods store located on Main Street, Berryville, Va. Evidently, this trivet was a promotional item for the tourist trade offered by the store. Castleman's Ferry, on the Shenandoah River was heavily contested during the Civil War and the scene of numerous skirmishes and the "Battle of Cool Springs" in 1864. This 5 1/2" antique trivet is in very good + condition for it's age. It is free of any chips or cracks. It has minor fading of the gold floral pattern on the face.
