German Seitengewehr 1898/05 n/a sawback bayonet that has been sold to the Turkish Army and shortened. Like most "turked" bayonets, it shows a good deal of wear. The blade is well-worn, though the sawteeth are in very good condition. The blade is maker marked "WAFFENFABRIK MAUSER A G OBERNDORF" on the left ricasso and crown "W" over 17 on the spine (denoting Prussian issue and maker year of 1917). Some very light staining and a few nicks throughout. The hilt is in very good shape. Press stud is fully functional. The wood grips are well worn, but t are no cracks. The scabbard appears to be a shortened 98/05 scabbard. It is well worn, retaining a dark patina with the exception of the area worn bright by the frog. In comparison with many of the "turked" 98/05's I've seen coming out of Turkey and Afghanistan, this one is in very nice condition. Please be sure to read all instructions.
