is an Imperial Navy sword directly from a veteran. It has no manufacturer's marking but resembles the Eickhorn model in the Eickhorn book under navy swords. T is a distributor marking on the top spine of the blade as, "Muhlenfeld & Co, Barmen" The folding cross guard is stamped with the letters, "O.M.D.13" w again the scabbard throat is stamped the same with "O.M.D. 13" I have the sword 'BARGAIN' priced at $875.00 and with a little tender loving care and polish, you could triple your money or add a quite rare sword to your collection. This sword blade is in just so-so condition with a slightly tired blade having some old rust and slight pitting which is typical of these old navy swords. The blade is engraved with the typical foliage and sailing ships etc motif. The handle is gilt wire wrapped and looks to be ivory having what seemingly is slight age cracks but not bad with no big cracks or any missing pieces. (how do I tell if it's ivory?) The handle is a lion-head with exceptionally deep and defined engraving with plain eyes with no jewels. It has a folding cross guard with the letters on the obverse of 'O.M.D. 13" and again these same letters are stamped on the top scabbard fitting. As typical, the scabbard has shrunk a bit and the blade won't go in the scabbard the last 1/2 inch. The scabbard is in decent condition with the fittings being excellent with all three of their respective staples attached but needs some leather balm or such. The cross guard has the Imperial crown over a fowled anchor. T is no maker's mark on the ricaso but on the top of the blade spine it is marked, "Muhlenfeld & CO. BARMEN"
