This cup is pewter with a brass band around the exterior about a third-of-the-way down. It features two 30 mm busts of Wilhelm II of Germany and Franz Joseph I of Austria respectively. It is entitled "Kreigs Becher" (War Cup), flanked by the dates "1914" and "1915", with the notations "D.R.G.M." and "GES. GESCH." There is a two line insciption on the other side, reading "Den eisernen Becher, den vollen, weight, Den eisernen Helden Der eisernen Zeit!" (The tin cup, the full weight, The iron heroes of the iron time!). The band features very crisp detail and high relief, with the cup itself exhibiting a very smooth, polished finish, This seems to be a very rare Item . please check out other cups that I have found like this , they dont come up fpr sale often . thanks for looking and best of luck with the auction , Faberge made cups like this as a patriotic gesture in the 1st world war , all proceeds went to victims & orphans and widows of the war , if you look thru Ebay someone else has one for sale for 300 http://www.franz-josef.cz/en/tinny-cup-with-bronze-portrait-of-franz-joseph-i-15.html http://www.franz-josef.cz/en/tinny-cups.html/5.10.11.asp?searchc=901http:http:/5.10.11BIG.asp?item=916 these are the only references to these cups beakers on the internet , they are as rare as hens teeth , best of luck with the bidding and thank read more
