These are a pair of German Dueling Sabers, from the Juan Carlos Amadeo "1883-1935" Collection. Formerly of Buenos Aires, Argentina, Cousin to the King of Spain, (Alfonso xii). In Governmental positions he was able to collect and enjoy target shooting in what was called the SHOOTING CIRCLE. An elite shooting club. He started collecting in 1883 and ended in 1935. Juan kept a detailed log of each weapon he acquired and included in this is a short piece of what he knew about this piece. Translating these documents was not a easy task. The old Spanish and its pronunciation are nothing like today's Spanish or our English. In his description of these he wrote " Rudimentary Sabers, used in the Argintine Army furring the Revolutionary Wars prior to 1880". These where used to settle disputes between officers without deadly injury. The picture is of Juan Amadeo's collection with the sabers on the wall. Both sabers are in excellent condition for age. I bought them at auction 6-8 years ago. Lost interest in them. Selling with low starting price no reserve after. Shipping will be a little high do to the size and packing.
