These are a pair of reproduction WWII US Army rough-out or flesh-out service shoes, in size 12D from At-The-Front (ATF). ATF is currently sold out of these (unless you're in the Munchkin Army and wear a size 7). New, they cost $125 plus postage. I'm starting the auction at $90. I think ATF is the best in the WW2 reproduction market, and have purchased a number of items from them and have always been very satisfied. These have been worn in the house, a little, to check out the sizing and potential comfort. (I usually wear a 12 1/2 to 13 Medium and these fit fine. They have the added benefit of being able to accommodate some hi-tech insoles (like the comfortable and hard-wearing Spenco brand) to insure your feet don't get blisters from the plain leather interior. These shoes are made just like the originals (I had a pair in my collection) and the shoes are just great, but most 21st century-types more used to nylon running shoes expect foam rubber insoles, not the leather inner soles that all WW2 footwear had. These are just like the originals, except that they have not darkened or hardened with age and have not been coated with waterproofing (which also darkens the leather to a deeper brown.) The WW2 period shoe treatment was called "dubbing" and the OD green cans are still available today. You can also buy sno-pruf or another brand- read more
