Gilbert American Flyer - Prototype Factory Service Manual Parts List and Diagrams Reference BookFor All S-Gauge Steam & Diesel Locomotives Produced But Never Manufactured - 1946-1966Item DescriptionThe item up for "Buy It Now" is the Gilbert American Flyer - Prototype S-Gauge Factory Service Manual Parts List and Diagrams Reference Book - For All Steam and Diesel Locomotives Produced But Never Manufactured 1946-1966.The staff at was very lucky during the summer of 2013 to have the good fortune to acquire an Original American Flyer "Service Manual - Parts Catalog and Price List" from an estate auction. This manual contained a Cross-Reference Index of all Steam and Diesel Locomotives Developed by the A.C. Gilbert Co. We found that also in this index were Locomotives that were Developed but Never Manufactured. Some of these seem to occasionally make it to Online Auctions For Sale. We have compiled all of the Steam and Diesel Locomotives, that were developed but never manufactured, into this Factory Service Manual - Reference Book. There is a total of 10 Steam Locomotives and 1 Diesel Locomotive. This book has a total of 74 pages. This is an interesting Reference Book for American Flyer Locomotives History enthusiasts.The Original American Flyer Factory Service Manual had been updated to October 1962. We have found, that date in 1962 , was the last update that was sent out to the Service Repair Stations throughout the country. If there were any other updates, they might have been limited to the Factory Staff. It also contained Factory Memos that talked of many changes that seemed to be made, on a frequent basis. Parts would become Obsolete, Redesigned or Eliminated altogether. That was quite the surprise to us, but in manufacturing, that is very common. What we have done is to to take the information that is included in the original manual and enhance the quality of the Diagrams and Parts Listings. The artwork from the factory wasn't always that clear so we enlarged each Exploded View of the Locomotives. We have separated the Steam and Diesel Locomotives pages. We did some rearrangement of the graphic elements of the diagrams and we improved the Wiring Diagrams for the Steam and Diesel Locomotives. The Diagrams were made larger and different symbols were used than what was originally used by the factory. We've also included General Service Instructions for each set of Steam and Diesel Locomotive Diagrams.Our goal was to make this Factory Service Manual information more easily understood by the collector, operator or tinkerer. We have sought clarity, in some instances, with certain parts of the Diagrams or Parts Lists from other American Flyer enthusiasts to make this publication as accurate as possible. But, with all that, it is impossible to know how each locomotive engine left the factory with any consistency from day to day. But we feel the General Information, we are providing, is a good Benchmark for every HO-Gauge model of Steam and Diesel Locomotives the A.C. Gilbert Company produced from 1946 through 1966.The specifications of this Reference Book are: It is printed on 24# Copy Paper, Laminated Hard Covers front and back, GBC Comb Binding for easy layout of the book for reading of the pages. There is a total of 74 pages covering 11 Steam and Diesel Locomotives.
