Up for auction is this very handsome GILBERT 8 day time and strike mantel clock from the early 1920's. This clock was manufactured by the Gilbert clock company as indicated on both the dial and stamped on the movement. It keeps good time and has a bim-bam chime. The chime strikes on the hour counting out the hours and strikes once at the half-hour. The chimes sound very sweet. The movement was just ultrasonically cleaned, oiled and adjusted. The case is Walnut with a very nice grain. Located below and to the right and left of the bezel are two gold inlays shaped like curved triangles. The case is in near perfect condition. It has a large easy to see dial: 7 inches in diameter. The dial also has a silver face in very good condition - no scratches or blemishes. The numbers are large black raised Arabic Numerals. On the inside of the back door is the original sticker with instructions, it is complete. The dimensions are as follows: 20 3/4" left to right, 4 l/4" wide, and 9 1/2" tall. I have had this clock for several years and it has always worked well. If you are looking for a dependable clock, and would like to pass it down to each generation, this clock is for you.
