Freemantle, 1900. Two volume set, thick octavos, gilt decorated green cloth, 427 pages + 443 pages. Top edge gilt. Limited Edition being #14 of 208 books printed for America. Gilbert White (1720-1793) was an English naturalist and Ornithologist. He is best known for this work, The Natural Histories & Antiquities of Selborne, an epistolary compilation of White’s observations concerning animals, birds and nature in and around Selborne. It is here combined with White’s A Garden Kalendar; this 2 volume set is copiously illustrated with many plates and 2 facsimile letters. Beautiful. Condition notes: Very good. These 2 octavos, measuring 9 inches by 6 inches, are bound in gilt decorated green cloth. There is some light surface and edge wear to the boards; the text, illustrations, facsimile letters and all else in this Limited American Edition of Whites The Natural Histories are virtually un-foxed and in very good condition.
