"Glad Ghosts" was published after "Sons and Lovers" and two years before "Lady Chatterley's Lover", it is imaginative, romantic, and wistful - quintessential Lawrence. M. Forster, in an obituary notice, challenged this widely held view, describing him as "The greatest imaginative novelist of our generation" and he remains highly regarded today.
