Beautifully detailed, brand new 1/43 scale GMP replica electronic Gilmore Stadium Diorama with operating Lights and clock. 7-5/8" H x 10-5/8" L X 5-1/2" W. Fantastic detail including model figures of time keeper and "spotter" along with spectators standing behind the barriers,. working lights over the leader board and a working Clock on posts proclaiming "Gruen" and "Watch Time" above the timer/spotter barricade. To the right of the leader board is a non-working ET timer with the red Gilmore leaping lion logo. The lower base of the diorama is a replica of the famous gilmore "dirt" track. The wooden leader board and barricades replicate the weathered white paint and the lower part adjacent to the track is mud splattered. The front of the track base has a brass plaque that reads "Gilmore Stadium 1934 - 1950. The lights and clock are operated by batteries which are included, but new batteries are suggested. Gilmore Stadium, located on Beverly Boulevard, just to the north of the La Brea Tar Pits in Los Angeles was a 1/5th mile stadium built in 1934 by Earl Gilmore to Host Midget racing. It was upgraded in 1936 and had a crushed granite surface. Besides midget racing, the track was host to the two wheeled monsters - motorcycles.
