This is a beautiful and rare Goebel piece by Charlot Byi. Part of her" Red Headed Kids" series it is in mint condition with no chips, scratches,crazing or repairs.A rather large piece it stands nearly 5 1/2 " tall 4" wide and 3 1/2 " deep. It carries the Goebel marking & V with bee. It also has the original tag on the back "Baby Sister", the name of this piece. Also on the bottom is imprinted Byi 66, the number of the piece and the artist's last name. Charlot Byi began her career designing greeting cards. It was then that her Red Headed Kids were conceived. Later Arthur Moeller and Gerhard Shrobek from Goebel noticed her work and hired her at Goebel to bring these characters to life as figurines. This one dates to 1970. The date is also imprinted on the bottom. Unfortunately Charlot passed away in 1983. This is a lovely and detailed piece depicting the innocence and love of a big sister. The little rabbit sitting in the chair next to her just adds to the charm. It is a pretty piece from all sides, the baby's face with a bow in her hair, the bear's hea, and even the detail of the back of the chair lends charm. What a beautiful gift for an expectant mom or to add to your own collection.
