These specimens are from the same mine found within a few inches of eachother. The one on the left in the pictures is the same as it was found. It is covered with beautiful calaverite crystals. The other was roasted at a high temperature to burn the tellurium out of the calaverite and show the gold. Alot of people that don't know calaverite can't see how it could be rich with gold, so it's neat to show side by side what happens when it's roasted. Roasting was also one of the steps at the Carlton Mill in Cripple Creek to burn the tellurium out of the calaverite so that the gold could be leached from the ore with cyanide. Just from experience I would say the natural piece has about three times as much gold in it as the roasted piece. They are from Cripple Creek Colorado, Teller County. Comes in container shown. Sizes: Natural piece- 7/8 x 5/8 x 3/8in.(2.3 x 1.6 x .9cm) Roasted- Approx. the same as above Weights: Natural- .08oz.(3.1g) Roasted- .105oz.(2.3g)
