This is a beautiful handmade, art deco kiln fused stained glass "mandala style" kaleidoscope designed and made by us, Lawrence and Audrey Goldsmith (LJG&AAG) . It is a new, colorful and playful design for us and it was a lot of fun to make and look through. It is signed and dated. It has a solid brass axle and two kiln fused stained glass disks that spin independently. It has 2 excellent quality front surface mirrors inside and clear glass ends to keep out dust.By using 2 taller mirrors on the inner sides in the correct proportion to a narrow black piece on the inside bottom, a round "mandala image" that is floating in black space is created. The kaleidoscope is approximately 8 inches long counting the disks. The side pieces are approximately 2 inches wide and 7 inches long. The disks are approximately 2 inches wide and have many tiny pieces of kiln fused dichroic and stained glass of many colors. To create the kaleidoscope's decorative kiln fused glass sides, we engraved and cut many small pieces of dichroic fusible glass and then kiln fused them to 2 pieces of black fusible glass at approximately 1400 degrees. We then soldered the kiln fused pieces, with the art deco fused glass design, to the blue iridescent pieces of stained glass to form the sides. This was then soldered to the black stained glass that forms the bottom. The kaleidoscope read more
