Why does the golf swing seem to be so difficult? Because our instincts are wrong for the golf swing. Almost any right handed player who has had no instruction will instinctively do the following things. Use right side control. Try to use an inside-to-inside clubhead path. Try to pick the ball clean from the turf. Take their eyes off the ball before impact. Those first two are the perfect recipe for a slice. Put all four of those together and you have the perfect recipe for shooting 100 or higher. All of these problems are addressed in detail in my book, with easy solutions. Most instruction gives you all of the positions and movements that are necessary for a good swing, but it does not tell you how to make it all happen perfectly in the one second or so that you have from take away to impact. Instructors would have you believe that it takes many years to perfect a golf swing. Actually, it only takes a few practice sessions. The first thing you must do is use total left side control. If you do not know exactly how to do that, you will find that you still have a problem. Your arm swing will get ahead of your body movements, or your body movements will get ahead of your arm swing. After trying to play golf for 35 years, I finally discovered what I now call the master swing key. This simple key will make your body movements and your arm swing synchronize perfectly every time from the start of your backswing to the end of your follow through, and it will hold up under pressure. Your body movements will be leading your arms and hands perfectly through impact. So why has this perfect swing key been overlooked so long? Because everyone has looked for a lower body key. It is obvious that the lower body must lead the downswing, but the lower body does not start it's downswing move first. In a good swing, the upper body and the lower body start their downswing moves at the same time. Of course, once they start, the lower body must move much faster for a short time. The master swing key has to do with the way the swing is controlled. It involves a body movement that is already present in the swings of all players. The key is to consciously direct that body movement. When you do that, it makes all of your other body movements automatic and synchronizes them perfectly with your arm swing every time.
