1920s Poppy Applique Quilt ~ Marie Webster A stunning piece of American applique folk art. A design of the famous Marie Webster and called Poppy. Marie made many classic patterns in her quilt making designs. This one of her most influential. It started a revival of the medallion style which had been popular in the early 1800s. An elegant pattern and so graceful with center medallion, inner borders and framed with flowers on the border. A highlight of Webster creations. The quilt measures 82 x 72 inches. Hand quilted 10 stitches per inch. Floral quilting patterns. The binding is hand sewn and batting is thin. The applique is hand sewn. There's scattered age spotting and other. A patch on back. I don't think used much. Circa 1920s Collected in Berk's County Pennsylvania. A wonderful pattern to add to your collection of treasures. Make is yours today!
