This auction is for an absolutely ADORABLE antique Japanese bisque doll, made by Morimura Brothers between 1915 and 1922. She is a big girl, about 28" tall with a fully articulated composition body. Her face is just captivating, I absolutely love looking at her, and as you can see by the photos I loved taking her pictures, too! She is very photogenic!!! She has huge bright blue glass eyes, which open and close very well. She has a really beautiful expression, sweet and gentle. Her head has no cracks or chips that I can find. Her complexion is a pretty high color, with pink cheeks. She has a few rubs on her face, a few light ones on her cheeks and one on her nose. They don't take away from her beauty though, they just remind me of the little girls who loved her so nearly 100 years ago. Her head is clearly marked M B in a symbol, Japan 9 on the back of her neck. Her body is in excellent condition, but her hands do not quite match. I am not sure if one of them has had the fingers repaired or if one hand is replaced. It is not noticeable unless you hold them together. They are both repainted though, as well as her lower legs...I think! But the body is still excellent and because she needs stringing, I had fun posing her in lots of positions! I will leave it up to her new owner to restring her, as I no longer have any of the needed tools. read more
