GORGEOUS ANTIQUE FRENCH ENAMEL OVER COPPER SIGNED VASE Presented for sale is an exceptional enamel, pear shaped, bud vase. This vase was made in France during the late 1800s and early 1900s. It is exquisite in every respect. This vase is completely covered in both translucent and opaque enamel on a copper base. The vase features a lady holding a lorgnette or opera glasses against a pastoral, opaque, pale orange enamel background. She is elegantly dressed in the fashion of the day. She is wearing a pretty green coat with an oversized white lapel. Her dress has a pale green bodice, lace accented sleeves, and a sky blue skirt. She is wearing a chapeaux with a yellow crown and a wide, yellow and brown striped, floppy brim. Most of the enamel on the lady and her dress is translucent which provides a lovely juxtaposition to the opaque enamel on the background. The interior of the vase is a brilliant crimson. The top of the vase has a handsome brass or bronze rim accented with a gold wash or vermeil finish. The pedestal vase features a brass or bronze base accented with the same gold wash or vermeil finish but embellished with a red enamel band or stripe. The vase is signed with the name of the artist. The vase is in excellent condition. Everything is totally original. T is an extremely minor chip near the top of the neck of the vase read more
