Here is a Great Hand Carved Reproduction of a Plains Style T Pipe with a Spiral Cut Stem. The Bowl of this Pipe is hand carved from Steatite, a stone used by Native Americans for thousands of years for Pipe making. This Steatite is a very unique variety in its color and was quarried in the western United States. It is a gorgeous brown color with some spider web pattern of darker inclusions. There are a few small natural voids in the stone which are quite common for this steatite, they do not affect the integrity of the bowl but rather give it an older appearance. The bowl has been conically drilled for a larger capacity and has a nice polish. The most common Steatite for Pipemaking has a greenish cast to it and is quarried in the north eastern US. The stem is carved from western cedar turning over four times at the bowl end, terminating in a flat with a rounded mouthpiece. The stem is hand carved, sanded smooth, stained with natural pigments and finally waxed to protect. The pattern in the grain of the wood accents the pattern in the stone very well. The Bowl measures just a hair under 6 inches long and 4 inches tall. The overall length of this Pipe with the stem inserted is just over 28 inches. This T Pipe will make a great Personal Pipe and is large enough to be used as a Ceremonial Pipe as well. This Reproduction T Pipe is fully read more
