Gorham Heirloom sterling flatware set of 12 - 6" dinner spoons and 12 - 8" dinner forks in the rare Medici Old, multi-motif pattern (midevil/gothic motif), circa 1880 with the old (and first) Gorham logo. The molds for this silver pattern have been destroyed making it very rare indeed. Well weighted, lovely patina, in excellent condition. The maid took the knives after my great grandmother died, before the family could get t, but they can still be found in antique stores and online. Or, perhaps the maid wants the rest of the set now? Additional Information: This item is monogramed on the back with "P" for the Pratt family, my great grandmothers first husband. Will accept paypal, money order or cashiers check for payment. Item will be insured at buyers expense. Will ship to other countries, also at buyers expense. My zip code is 22407 for all shipping calculations. Weight is 8 Lbs. approx. The Gorham's trademark was registered Dec. 19, 1899 at which time it was stated it had been in use since since January 1, 1853 with the lion facing right. The sterling marks on this sterling shows the lion facing right, not left as in the picture above. The Gorham company now states that this trademark was used as early as 1848 to 1865 but with the lion facing left, several years before the Medici Old silver pattern was released in 1880.
