A really nice Signed and DATED American homespun Sampler. Signed "Elizabeth Kempton" and Dated 1802. This is a very nice school girl alphabet sampler of the earlist part of the 19th century. T are 2 complete alphabets along with an additional number line. T is also a very nice poem stitched under the name line. The name and date is nice and clear. The colors are dark green on a brown homespun background. This is a typical school girl sampler, probably made by a very early teen to learn and practice her needlework. It is a nice small size being only 7 1/2" wide and 9" tall. It is in nice condition, t are minor losses and the typical fading of a sampler that was displayed early in its life.
