's a great firkin in an unusual light salmon paint. It is signed but difficult to read-not all the letters are legible. What is seen is: EM_ ANE & SON, MARL__S_ DEPOT NH. It has nice lap bands that are attached with copper tacks and brass staples and reinforced with some early nails. It is very tight with that great antique smell to the interior. It's a nice small size for building a stack of New England firkins. I found on the lower band and underside some faint traces of early windsor green paint. Overall, it is in very good condition but has some losses to the band on the lid(photo 12). The handle is most likely a later repaint but could possibly be an early replacement. However, this is a very nice firkin with a rare color of paint and signature that outweighs some of the apologies previously mentioned. It measures 10" high by 9 1/2" diameter. I have this priced with no reserve and giving everyone the opportunity to own an early firkin. Thank you for looking and please come back. I will be listing many items this week.
