This is a beautiful example of an original 40"x60" U.S. movie poster from the classic "THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH". These are very difficult to find in any condition! This poster is from the 1967 re-release. A long time can go by without one of these coming up for sale. Gently used and well preserved. Border wear. ROLLED, never folded. Graded C8-C9 Excellent to Near Mint condition. You will have trouble finding a nicer one. About 40x60's: A vertical format American movie poster printed on a heavy card stock material. Most 40"x60"'s feature the same artwork as the one sheet and were issued rolled. They were primarily offered for major motion pictures only and were displayed both inside and outside of theaters (most of them have not survived). A 40"x60" poster display would cost the theater up to 20 times as much as a one sheet to rent. Only a few hundred of these were printed, and it was only printed once. Unlike the one sheet which was printed in quantities of 10,000 and up. VERY difficult to find in Near Mint condition because the card stock can crease easily. Studios have stopped issuing these. If a vintage poster is in terrific unrestored condition like this one (EX C8 or better), many experienced collectors will place a premium on it (when compared to a linen backed/restored one). Most experienced collectors prefer unrestored items to restored ones because they believe they will appreciate more in value. When buying collectibles it is always wise to buy "the best of the best" as they stand a greater chance of appreciation. This poster is considered to be within that class and is definitely INVESTMENT QUALITY. An iconic image. Beautiful artwork. Bright vivid colors. T are NO known reprints and/or reproductions of this poster. This is guaranteed to be a genuine ORIGINAL MOVIE POSTER issued by the studio and meant for theatrical display. We are absolutely certain it is authentic. We offer this one at NO RESERVE!! Please be aware that most Original Movie Posters issued before the mid 1980's were issued FOLDED (over 95%). This is NOT considered a defect. They were shipped to theaters this way. Vintage rolled posters do exist; however, they are extremely rare. We can have any folded poster Linen Backed which will make the fold lines virtually disappear. Also please note that most movie posters were actually used at the theater, and some will contain slight imperfections like writing on the back, pin holes, fold wear, small tears, etc. These are all very common and to be expected, but if they bother you, all these minor flaws can be remedied in the linen backing process. Linen Backing preserves and can actually increase the value of a poster. For the most part, any flaws will be fixed and the poster will appear to be in Near Mint condition.
