Very few early McCoy plates survive in any condition. This hard to find pattern is known as RINGS and is the first green glaze pottery made by McCoy. This was a popular design at the time and McCoy responded by making a variety of forms in this design. The color of the plate is medium green. Most of their early pottery was not marked, marked pieces are rare. Measuring 8 1/4” in diameter by 1 3/4” high, the bottom is marked with an “8” in script. Considering the heavy use this plate would have gotten, the plate is in remarkably good condition – the inside of the plate and rim has glaze wear from use with no chips, cracks or repairs. Even the molding of this plate is excellent, with few of the molding flaws commonly found on early McCoy pottery.
