Incredible and incredibly rare imprinted bakelite beads cut straight from a rod in green and brown. The brown and green mix is pretty strong so it's End of Day Bakelite as well. These are strung on plain double string. This piece has to be restrung as I broke the string right after taking the photographs. Even if I had not, as soon as you removed it from the box it would have broken. You can see the results of the Simichrome tests in photo 2 but you don't need to do any tests to smell the raw cut end of the beads to know. The beads cut from the rod are hand imprinted with a recessed circle design and the ends are raw, not finished or polished. You can see in several places where the circles overlap and some are pressed more shallow and other more deep. The raw ends show on several where the cut stopped and started as there is a tiny 'lip'. It really speaks to how Bakelite was hand cut and handmade back in the 1930's.This piece is all original with the original screw clasp hand carved from Bakelite. The spacer barbell Bakelite are cast and the tiny aqua colored beads are NOT Bakelite. This weighs 90 grams. This necklace and bead design in authentic 1930's Bakelite is incredibly rare. Not to mention the historical value and it's place as a (soon to be) antique in jewelry plastics history.Any questions, just ask. This piece is already packed read more
