This is a very clean set of standard threads, National Course tap & dies, in size from 1/4 to 3/4". The inside of the hardwood case is marked "LITTLE GIANT ADJUSTABLE DIE SCREW PLATE GREENFIELD TAP & DIE CORPORATION GREENFIELD MASSACHUSETTS U.S.A." along with some other sizes listings, and a tap drill chart on the green and white inside cover label. All the taps and dies have been cleaned and inspected, all are in good too fine condition, as well as the wrenches, and box. The Little Giant trade mark was first patented by Wells Brothers in Greenfield, and later, the trade name was purchase by Greenfield Tap & Die Corp. This type of dies are a very heavy duty design, and can be adjusted to cut a slightly larger or smaller diameter thread on a bolt, as the two inserts are on a fitted slide (so they lock in with a thread lock plate behind them), and adjusted to a gauge size required by means of set screws behind the die inserts. The tap wrench is marked Little Giant, but is actually the older Wells Brothers from the late 1800's. The set is complete in sizes 1/4-20, 5/16-18, 3/8-16, 7/16-14, 1/2-13, 5/8-11, 3/4-10. All of the dies are marked "G.T.D. LITTLE GIANT", and 4 of the 8 taps are G.T.D., the others are top quality U.S. made replacements. The box is very solid, and in nice condition overall, with some imbedded metal chips inside, read more
