Offered today is an EXCELLENT CONDITION, WELL-SEASONED, GRISWOLD NO. 8 CAST IRON WAFFLE MAKER, CIRCA 1910s, LARGE SLANT "EPU" LOGO, P/N 885 AND 886; NO BASE (BUT SUPER CONDITION); SPIRAL STEEL HANDLES. No damage, cracks, splits, or warping. Although I am not an expert in this area, I believe this is a very nice example, very clean inside and out (doesn't have a bunch of built-up-burnt-on gunk like you see on lots of older pieces), but will leave it to you to view the photos and judge the condition and quality for yourself. LOW START PRICE AND NO RESERVE . Cleaning house, and this has gotta go! As I understand it, the various familiar Griswold cross logos indicate manufacture between approx. 1897 to 1957, with the medium and smaller logos being less favored. This round waffle maker has the large cross italic or SLANT "Erie, PA USA" or EPU logo that indicates it is most likely from the 1910s . Iron measures approx. 7 3/4" across the cooking surface, and 1 1/2" from the end of the handles to the end of the knob that fits into the collar. Casting is marked "AMERICAN NO. 8 / GRISWOLD / THE GRISWOLD MFG. CO. / ERIE PA, U. S. A. / PAT'D DEC. 1, 1908" and the the two halves are marked with Part No. 885 and 886, respectively.
