IS A LARGE GROUP OF AMBER FROM COLUMBIA WEIGHING A TOTAL OF OVER 1/4 POUND. SOME OF WHICH COULD HAVE BUGS IN IT. THE COLORS ARE KIND OF INTO THE AMBER TO A DEEP GOLDEN BROWN!! I have had a small tub full of this Columbian Amber that I bought in Tucson a long time ago. So I picked out several pieces for sale on this auction. I placed a ruler in front of the group picture to give you an idea as to the dimensions of the pieces but they range in size up to around 2". The total weight of the group is over 1/4 pound. I normally sold this at $12 an ounce which should give you an idea as to the price it is worth. I have cut several pieces of it myself and probably 15% of the pieces have had different bugs such as mesquitos or ants imbedded inside. These pieces are rough on the outside so t is no way to tell if these will contain bugs or not but with luck maybe 1 of them will. Many of the interiors are mostly clear and solid but many of them aren't. The other 4 pieces are mostly less than 2" in their maximum dimension. These should cut some nice pendant or earring stones. Amber is very soft and can be cut quite easily. Amber is easy to polish using sand paper for the rough sand and then working down to fine sandpaper to give it a semi polish. Finally you can use a buffing wheel with a light touch or use car wax to complete the polish. Don' read more
