This is a vintage Grover & Baker Sewing Machine Head with bobbins, cabinet parts, drawer and accessories. It appears to be from a treadle base but this is all that was found. I will be checking the estate sale in the morning for additional parts but I believe this is it for now. I frequently buy and restore old Singer sewing machines for use in my business and currently have 15 working models as I like to have one for every color available at any moment rather than changing thread. I restore to the point of working condition and save all parts to use on other machines in the future. So I have self taught experience buying and assessing the potential of sewing machines.I bought this after looking it over and making sure all parts were present to make it a working unit. It does appear to have all necessary parts to execute stitching but I'm not familiar with this type at all or do I have any idea of how to begin restoring it. My educated guess is that with the correct manual, it will work. I'm not sure what the accessories are for either. I am sure that the treadle base is long gone but again I will check in the morning. Be sure to see the last two photos if you've already checked out this auction. I added two photos of the entire top of this machine. I found the table top in my back yard leaning against the fence. Somehow I forgot all about it. I've pieced together everything so you can see that all is t with the exeption of the cast iron treadle stand. The wood pieces are in solid condition. The moulding is damaged in two places as clearly seen in the photos but otherwise it seems that the wood is in very restorable condition. Also, attached to the table was the other hinge that was missing from the small parts photo. A picture says a thousand words, so I provide 12 high resoluton photos for you to examine and feel free to ask any questions. I didn't disassemble anything with the exeption of the bobbin cover but I am confident enough to do more and provide photos via email if need be. I dusted it with a brush and used a green scotchbrite pad to clean the maker mark and serial #'s only. This is a method accepted for cleaning surface rust on antique weapons and metal military items so it seemed OK to do so. All other finish was left alone and appears to be original. I also believe that a gold colored medallion is missing from the center of the head's sewing surface. You can see a faint mark w it used to be.I just found the table top that this machine sets into. I will provide photos in the morning. Very Important This unit tips my scale and shows to be about 33lbs. I use an old baby scale that is accurate enough to weigh my usual items but it will be a day or two before I can box it it have the exact weight.
