GWR Oil Signal Lamp Repeater, Lamps In / Out Indicator. Made by R E Thompson G.W.R. Signal Lamp Repeater This instrument is in excellent original condition and full working order. The relay coils measure 150 ohms and the Spagnoletti flag indicator coils measure 50 ohms resistance. The LAMPS IN / LAMP OUT flag pivots freely and fails safe to the warning position. It operates on just 1.5 volts. Manufactured by R.E.Thompson & Co. (Instruments) Ltd. Teddington, Middlesex, this instrument repeated no less than 8 signal lamps and accordingly the green flag states LAMPS IN as opposed to the more common LAMP IN. It is complete with its carbon bobbin lightning arrestor, ivorine number plate "6. 51. 54. 55. 57. 64. 65. 66." and BELL ON and BELL OFF brass plates. The final image is taken from the Great Western Railway General Appendix to the Rule Book 1936 and details the operation of these instruments. It measures 137mm (5 3/8 inches) by 178mm (7 1/8 inches) at the base and stands 235mm (9 1/4 inches) high.
