This is a Hagen-Renaker "Roan Lady" Saddlebred, earthenware china, one of the new versions of this piece that the company has re-issued in the past year in a new color range. This is NOT a vintage Roan Lady from the 1960's and '70's.I am a ceramics artist and I have customized the original factory color (it was a palomino) using ceramic overglazes. The new color and details are FIRED ON in my KILN and are PERMANENT. The gloss finish is beautiful and pristine, and I have enhanced the original base coat color to make it a shaded dun or sandy bay. The mold detail is excellent, and overglazes are transparent which allows much of that detail to remain visible even as I deepened and shaded the base color. I have detailed out the mane, added white pinto markings, and 2 stockings with natural colored hooves on the front two legs. I have also completely repainted the eyes for luscious new depth. The horse is in mint condition, no chips or breaks. It has been permanently identified as "Custom glazed by Karen Y. Gerhardt" with a fired-on metallic gold decal on the belly.
