This BEAUTIFUL trinket music box unfortunately is not in working condition. I’ve had it displayed in my curio cabinet for over 25 years and have not “played” it in many years. In preparing for this auction I turned the key on the bottom which starts the music but unfortunately, it doesn’t play the song anymore. The gold turn key which is used to wind in order to play the song is engraved, “SWISS MADE”. Once wound up, it would play a song when you opened the box lid.Made by Halcyon Days Enamels. The bottom reads, “HALCYON DAYS ENAMELS ENGLAND” and something about Battersea Enamels. The print is too small to read even through a magnifying glass. This is a numbered piece as shown on the bottom, (509/750) which means this is #509 out of 750 made. Inside lid reads, “Minuet from the String Quartet Op. 13, No.5 in E (1771) Luigi Boccherini 1743-1805”. As you can see from the auction photo, the “guts” to the music box are visible through clear glass and the name “REUGE Switzerland”.The picture on top depicts revolutionary period dancers with musicians in the background. Colors in varying shades of green, blue, pink, red, gold, and backdrop color of pastel turquoise with a band of pink flowers. Box measures approximately 2” across. Please visit my other auctions to see more collectible enamel boxes. Check my rating and .
