A very good New Hall reeded coffee cup and saucer, C.1787-1795, decorated in pattern number 142 - brown feathers with intertwined gilding. It is in very good condition - there are no chips, cracks, crazing or repairs, and both pieces ring well when tapped. It is possible that the central gilded ring of the saucer may have been retouched with gold in a few places, however, I am not sure. Neither piece is marked, however the pattern and shape is well documented as New Hall. There is a small manufacturing shrinkage fissure near the lower handle terminal, on the right (picture 6). The feathers on the cup are painted a little broader than on the saucer. The cup measures 2 5/8 inches diameter and the saucer is 5 1/4 inches diameter.
