Hallicrafters 5T Sky Buddy Radio Receiver with Boy 1935 This rare Hallicrafters radio is from the first production run of the 5T Sky Buddy radio receiver in 1935 which features a dial with a boy wearing headphones, sitting at a desk and with his hand on a telegraph key. The later production runs did not have the boy and are more common. The panel and top are dirty with staining of the top and with some rust. The dial with boy and the glass are complete and look perfect with smooth control of the dial mechanism. The dial belt is intact and appears to be original and includes the idler which is sometimes lost but is necessary to maintain radio dial belt tension (see photograph).The belt and gears work well. See photos of panel knobs and controls, some of which may not be correct. The radio has not been tried as it has a deteriorated power cord. All tubes and original tube shields are present. Use photos as a guide for bidding. Sold as-is and untested. Payment Payment must be received within 4 days of auction close.
