HAMILTON 37500 Aircraft Clock with extra N.O.S DialUp for auction is a WWII aircraft cockpit clock. HAMILTON WATCH CO. - MFRS. PART NO. H-37500 - CONTRACT NO. 96322 - Serial # 017643 This 24 hour 8 day chronograph has over 400 parts, fully functional, and in excellent condition. A few minor blemishes appropriate with age. The interior is clean. Please zoom in on all pictures for details. The face measures 3" in diameter and it weighs 15 oz.Clocks were made by both Elgin and Hamilton in 1944-45 for the U.S. Navy used in WWll Carrier Based Aircraft such as the F4U Corsair and F6 Hell Cat. The 37500 clocks were vital for Navigation.Hamilton Watch Company, like many other manufacturers, turned their entire production facilities to the manufacture of highly specialized navigational timepieces and other precision instruments. However, The US Navy's Bureau of Aeronautics and the US Army Air Corps wanted two sources of supply. Both Elgin and Hamilton made these clocks.This Hamilton 8-day elapsed time clock was a 24-hour dial clock with special chronograph and civil date features designed for use as a navigational instrument in aircraft. The movement, rather than being that of as simple clock, was more like that of a large complicated, 8-day, 16-jewel watch with a lever escapement. Adjusted to temperature and 2 positions.
