First, I want to note that this beautiful chronometer appears not to be running. I have no knowledge of its mechanical condition other that it appears to be good shape inside. It is able to be set. Maybe it is locked for storage... I don't know. The gentleman who gave it to me has not used it in many years and had little knowledge about it's working. So here goes the sales pitch... Hamilton Watch Co. Lancaster, PA., U.S.A. Hamilton mounted chronometer watch (Model 22) The back of the watch is marked: "MTD Watch, Bureau of ships, U. S. Navy, 5707 - 1942" The side of the bezel is marked "Hamilton 5707" The box is in really nice shape, no major scratches or cracks. The crystal is near perfect. The brass is tarnished, but not awfully. Overall this is a beautiful, collectable timepiece that hopefully someone can enjoy. Again, the movement appears not to be operating. Thank you. Hey guys here is a little historical information. I just talked with the gentleman who gave me the chronometer to sell. He indicated that while he was in the service, he recalls about 1943, he worked in the Kearny, (N.J.) Navy ship yard. He further recalled it was off of one of the "Liberty Ships". Sorry, thats all he remembers. Okay gentleman, It's getting down to the wire! I would buy this chronometer, myself, just to put it on my desk! read more
