Hammond Model BC Organ dating from about 1938. Boosey & Hawkes serial no 0183. It come complete with bass pedals and a bench. The bench is not from the organ, but is a homemade one of the C3 style. This has been a long term restoration project which I am having to let go of due to an imminent house move. mechanically and electronically, the organ is in good condition. The casework had suffered in the past from having had its legs cut off by a previous owner, and ravages of woodworm and wear & tear to the veneer and finish. Work done to date has included: Stripping the organ and re-attaching the legs in a sensible manner Woodworm treated Rebuild of the original valve pre-amp Name rails shot-blasted and re-powder coated New expression pedal mat and up-stop and down-stop felts New down tubes for wiring harness Work still to be done: Filling of old worm holes Repairs to veneer Improvement to the finish (I have found shellac works well) Possible cleaning of key contacts through regular playing At the moment the manuals have still to be reattached to the generator, and pre-amp re-installed etc, but |I am hoping to get to most of that before it is sold and collected.
